Don't Say Anything

I saw the below in another blog and thought it interesting.

Oxford complied a list of the top most irritating phrases. I thought this list was funny and pretty interesting. I am definitely guilty of using some of these regularly. This makes me laugh because I didn't realize how annoying and overused these phrases are until now.

1 - At the end of the day

2 - Fairly unique

3 - I personally

4 - At this moment in time

5 - With all due respect

6 - Absolutely

7 - It's a nightmare

8 - Shouldn't of

9 - 24/7

10 - It's not rocket science

I would add "to be honest", "no offense but", "I know, but" and "the truth of the matter is". Any more you would like to add?

2009

Well you must admit that 2009 is a most interesting and often scary year. All these lay-offs and bail outs. Where are we going? I read that Russia and China are blaming the global economic crisis on the United States. Their claim that we were so focused on profit only that we allowed all these invest banks and Wall Street companies to run rampant. Ah crap they might be right.

So are we at the bottom or is there still more disappointment to come before we turn around? Will we ever be what we were? How can the wonderful average hard working person keep their chin up. I don't know about but I'm concerned for my kids and their kids.

What mind set are you in? Please post.

Inaugaration Eve

Well tomorrow we get a New President.. I can't imagine a tougher job, Well maybe suicide bomber, but being President of the United States even in great times is a difficult job but during this time of economic problems, The Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Can't forget the morons in North Korea and Iran and long term China and possibly the reborn Russia.

There are so many other things like unemployment, Balance of Trade, lack of domestic Manufacturing, Rising National debt, Health Care. Everyone who has a job should be paying taxes and this brings us into how can the US control illegal immigration? I know there is no easy answer but it can't go unaddressed for the well being of the country and people who want to work. What about energy, specifically OIL. Is the answer solar, wind, bio fuels? Obviously we could add to the supply by drilling in Alaska and I cannot believe that it is such a terrible environmental problem. If I were President I would mandate the old 55 MPH and demand the limit be enforced. I would demand that cars become much more fuel efficient. How about no car built here or imported allowed to get less than 30 MPG.

So what do you think? What does President Obama have to do and do quickly? What is the answer to energy?

Quick Update

It is cold here and tonight will be colder. That stinks. I was hoping to get some golf in this month.

So far we have Tom G and Liz B on as contributors as well as myself. Don M says he's in but has not gotten on the blog and accept the invite to contribute. I don't have Danny Abbott's e-mail & I hope someone sends it along so he can get an invite. Has anyone else retired and should be included?

Have not heard from Maui Mike or Jerry down in Florida. I'll probably have to show Joe B how to sign on.

So what can we discuss? I was thinking about YKK. Do you miss it? Sometimes I definitely do but I'm finding retirement fits my life style just fine. I do need to go somewhere before Delta kills my frequent flyer points.

US AIRWAYS

Saw a really cool News Special today of a US Air A320 in the Hudson River. This pilot must have blessed to be able to decide what to do and then have the ability to pull it off and no one gets killed.

I wonder what the passengers were thinking as this event was playing out. A quick act of contrition, an Ah Shit!, a tear and a Why Me?

What do think you would have thought during those maybe 2 minutes from everything is cool to everything is coming apart?

YKK Retired Blog

No, I am not very good at this but I thought I would like to give it a shot anyway.

What is a BLOG? Well, I think it is a format or platform to allow us to speak out mind on line. We can use it as a way to communicate between each other on various subjects. The way I understand it, We comment on on a common topic or question and then comment on each other's comment.

I thihnk you need a gmail account. It's free, it's easy and you can also use it for other junk mail stuff that asks you for you email address. So let's try it. If it sucks then we toss int he towel.

Should we invite other like Larry Boyd? Does any one have Warren's or Mike Weiss' e-mail address. Have I forgotten anyone?
